Dear ‘Save a Soul’ Friends,
I am sure many of you who share the same compassion for animals will wonder why I am going through the extra step of starting a foundation, when I could easily just establish links from my web site to the organizations I support and donate 10% of the proceeds from my products sales directly to them.
Well, for a starter, I am almost never in the habit of choosing the easy and convenient way.
I decided that if I wanted to make a meaningful contribution to the cause which is closest to my heart, I would have to take and stir the stirring wheel myself and take the destiny of my charitable work, as I chose do so for my corporation, into my own hands.
Many people contribute in their own way to the animal cause. They volunteer their time and effort in animal shelters, they foster animals until a permanent home can be found for them, they organize private fund raisers, they donate and they do so much more…
I tried to volunteer in animal shelters, but I realized very quickly that I am not cut out for it, since I would have very quickly emotional break downs and only one desire: to take all the animals home, which overall was and is not very helpful to anyone.
Fostering is also not an option for me since I won’t and cannot let go once I take in an animal.
Making donations when able to do so makes me feel good, but is not fulfilling enough.
So after giving it a lot of thought how I could help best, I decided that it would more practical and beneficial to the cause to put my business skills and my name to use and to raise awareness and as much money as possible on my own through my foundation and then direct it to specific needs in the organizations that I support, which are doing such a wonderful work.
And that’s that. I don’t have much interest in sitting on the Board of Directors of animal rescue organizations; neither do I like to get involved in the politics that come with this territory.All I care about is to know that I have done my share to the best of my ability….Life is so precious!
After taking the very first step I cannot wait to see where my very own ‘Save a Soul’ journey will take me!
